A fairytale hotel with a truly beautiful, well-kept grounds — essentially a tropical garden with lovely Thai statues, lots of flowers and exotic plants. It’s an absolute pleasure to walk around the resort.

Our room was in a building up on the hill with a wonderful view over the grounds. You can get to the room by funicular, or if you’re coming from reception, by the resort’s mini buggies.

There are also villa rooms — they’re closer to the sea, including some right on the beachfront. Our room was very spacious. The bathroom had a shower, and there was also a bath on the terrace.

Food-wise, breakfast was tasty and varied. There are a few small restaurants on-site where you can order something for lunch or dinner. The restaurant by the beach is especially beautiful in the evenings: tables are set, candles are lit, lots of little lights — very romantic. Many people come there in the evening just to celebrate a special occasion, and it really is a lovely setting.

To reach Phuket’s main amenities you’ll really need a car, but the hotel runs a free shuttle bus a few times a day. It goes to Patong, where you’ll find a supermarket and the night market.

One thing to note: the beach. If you like walking straight into the sea from the shore and swimming, this isn’t really the place — there are strong tides.

There’s also a small mini-zoo: around lunchtime they bring in a little piglet and turtles, and guests can come and feed them.

Overall, we left with only positive impressions. It’s great for couples, as well as families with children, and is ideal for a calm, romantic holiday.
