Excellent hotel on the promenade

The hotel is located in the Lido area — a promenade along the hotels and the ocean. It’s just a 30-40 minute walk or a €2 bus ride to the center of Funchal, where you’ll find everything: cafés, restaurants, shops, the port, cruise liners, a marina, lots of tourists, museums — lively and vibrant.

If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, you can return to the Lido area, which is calm and cozy. There are also cafés here, and nearby is the Forum shopping center with Zara, H&M, Massimo Dutti, and many other brands, as well as a supermarket. In my opinion, it’s a very convenient location.

During our stay, the hotel was fully booked, but it didn’t feel crowded at all, as most people don’t stay in the hotel all day — they explore and travel.

In general, if location is important, you can book any hotel along the promenade from the center that suits your budget and availability, such as Pestana Carlton Madeira, Pestana Miramar, Pestana Lido, VidaMar, Enotel Lido, Baía Azul, Savoy, The Cliff Bay, and others.

Territory

The hotel doesn’t really have a large territory — the main area is the swimming pool and the surrounding space, with a pool bar. There are no green lawns. However, the most important thing is that there are plenty of sunbeds and enough space for everyone.

Food

We chose breakfast only, which is convenient because Madeira is not a place to stay in the hotel — it’s meant for exploring.

The food is tasty, with a good selection — classic options, nothing extraordinary: omelets, eggs, vegetables, fruits, cold cuts, cheese, cereals, etc. There is also prosecco available for self-service. No one will go hungry.

Dinner is offered for €32 per adult and €18 per child, but in my opinion, it’s not worth it, as there are plenty of restaurants nearby for every taste. Plus, it’s an island with an excellent selection of fresh seafood and fish.

Beach

The hotel does not have its own beach. Guests sunbathe by the pool overlooking the ocean. If desired, you can visit nearby beaches, but they are mostly platform-style and municipal.

The ocean water temperature is around 19°C  some people do swim. The air temperature is about 20°C. This is the island of eternal spring, so it never gets extremely hot.

Pool & Spa

There is an outdoor pool with slight heating, but in my opinion, it’s still quite cool.

There is also an indoor pool — very warm and large, where most children swam. There is also a jacuzzi.

Evening Entertainment

Every evening there is live music and mini concerts. Guests dance and sing in the lobby. There are also chess and other board games

Next to the hotel, along the seaside promenade in the direction of the Forum shopping centre, there is a great children’s centre with slides and trampolines (€5 per hour), as well as a café for parents, tennis courts, and padel courts.
