Premium hotel with good location

The hotel is located on the promenade in Funchal, which is one of its biggest advantages. The historic center is just a 5-minute walk away, while the area itself is მშვიდ, quiet, and very comfortable for a relaxing stay. It’s worth noting that this is not a first-line beachfront hotel in the traditional sense, which is quite typical for Madeira.

The interiors are elegant and high-end, with plenty of natural light, greenery, and open spaces. There’s lots of room to walk around, giving a true resort feeling rather than just a hotel stay.

There is also a separate Royal Savoy area — essentially a “hotel within a hotel.”

Pool

The first thing that really stands out is the size and design of the main pool: there are poolside beds and sun loungers partially immersed in the water. I personally would have preferred the water to be slightly warmer, although other guests seemed perfectly happy swimming.

Spa area is another strong point: spacious, modern, and offering a great selection of treatments. The hotel also offers a day-use spa package (around €65 per person), which includes access to the spa and pools, plus the option to have lunch in one of the restaurants (at an additional cost).

Service is at a high level: the staff are attentive and friendly, and the guest relations team kindly showed us around and gave us time to explore the property.

Rooms are bright, stylish, and offer panoramic views. From the upper floors, you can enjoy views of the port and watch cruise ships.

Good Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

The food is excellent, and the breakfast is truly luxurious with a wide selection.

If guests are willing to pay from €500 per night, the hotel is definitely worth the money.

Not a boutique or intimate hotel — not ideal for those seeking privacy; it’s a large premium resort.

Can be crowded around the pool during high season — you may need to secure good spots early.

Not beachfront; no private beach with easy ocean access.
