MedPlaya Hotel Santa Monica

MedPlaya Hotel Santa Monica 3* — although most operators sell it as a 4*, and there are also 4* displayed on the façade of MedPlaya Hotel Santa Monica. As a 3* hotel, it is excellent. As a 4* hotel, you can find things to criticise.

Location:

1. 15-20 minutes’ walk to the railway station.
2. 5-7 minutes to the beach, because you also need to take into account the walk to the underpass.
3. There is a road behind the hotel, so if your windows face the road, it is noisy.
4. There are cafés and souvenir shops nearby.
5. Convenient for Barcelona — 1 hour 5 minutes by train (€7).

Hotel:

1. Clean, with friendly staff. There is a small pool plus a children’s pool (visible in the photo).
2. There is a pool bar and a lobby bar.

Rooms:

White bed linen, a clean bathroom, and the rooms have had a cosmetic renovation. The downsides: the fridge didn’t work and the entrance door creaked (we didn’t complain).

Food:

Excellent. We had full board (without drinks).

There was always a good choice of meat; for lunch and dinner there was always fish, and at dinner they also served prawns, battered squid or mussels. 3-5 types of fruit
