My own holiday

We stayed at this hotel at the end of June and beginning of July, just the two of us — my husband and I.

The Marron Bungalow Sea View room looks larger in the photos, but in reality it is more like a standard hotel room. Its main advantages are its proximity to the beach, ground-floor location, a tiny terrace where you can place a sun lounger, and the sea view.

The room had shower gel, liquid soap and shampoo — all the essentials. Housekeeping was good. There is no safe in the room. The minibar only had a couple of bottles of water on arrival and was not replenished afterwards.

The beach is wide and beautiful, with a comfortable entrance into the sea, which is convenient for both children and adults. It is sandy and was cleaned quite well. There were always plenty of free sun loungers.

The pools are also good and clean, with plenty of sun loungers available.

The internet was generally good, although it occasionally had glitches.

Food is where the main disappointment begins. Over the course of a week, the dishes were repetitive, and breakfast was the same every day: rather limited, with only 2-3 types of cheese and ham, fried and boiled eggs, a couple of types of omelette, some pancakes, sliced tomatoes and sausages of questionable quality. We honestly did not feel like going to breakfast at all.

Lunch and dinner were also repeated from day to day. The only differences were usually the type of soup, most often vegetable, and perhaps the type of fried fish. Considering the price we paid for the room — €3,000 for a week — we expected something more varied.

The bar menu is also not particularly extensive, although there is whisky, cocktails, prosecco, beer and wine. Juices, cola and Sprite were always available. Coffee is available both from a coffee machine and Turkish-style — the latter was actually very good.

The guests were mostly Germans, Slovaks and English guests.

Conclusion: for a couple’s holiday, as in our case, it was generally not bad. However, taking into account the cost of the stay and our previous experience at other Grecotel hotels, either the price is too high or the level of service and overall offering does not quite match it.
