A family hotel you will want to return to

Grecotel Eva Palace is a hotel in the Kommeno area of Corfu, around 25 minutes from the airport and the town centre. It offers incredible views of the Ionian Sea, plenty of greenery and a very pleasant atmosphere for a family holiday.

Grounds & Infrastructure

One of the main advantages of staying here is the opportunity to use the facilities of the neighbouring Grecotel Corfu Imperial and Grecotel LuxME Daphnila Bay Dassia hotels. This significantly expands the range of options: you can explore different areas, visit the beaches, cafés and bars.

You can get between the hotels on foot, by buggy or, my favourite option, by boat. The boat runs hourly at certain times and is a lovely way to add a little extra experience to your holiday. The hotel also provides a shuttle to the town and back three times a day. The timetable is included in the hotel concept shown in the photos, and seats on the bus need to be booked in advance.

I also really liked the evening cinema atmosphere right by the sea, underneath the cliffs, where well-known movies are shown on a large screen.

We spent quite a lot of time at Corfu Imperial because our friends were staying there, and we really liked it too. However, it felt busier than Eva Palace, with more people and longer queues in the restaurant. There are adults-only areas as well, which is a great plus if you are travelling without children.

Beaches & Pools

All the pools at the hotel have salt water and are heated. For me, this is a big plus and a sign of the hotel’s quality. There are enough sun loungers around the pool, and there is also a pool bar where you can order drinks and snacks such as pizza and salads.

There is a heated freshwater pool at Corfu Imperial. Our children especially loved this one because the freshwater didn’t sting their eyes.

The beach is accessed via stairs, so the hotel is not particularly convenient if you are travelling with a stroller, as there are quite a few changes in level and steps.

The beach itself is beautiful, long and has a gently sloping entrance into the water. The sea is clean and crystal clear. There is enough space overall, but during the high season it felt quite crowded, and finding a free sun lounger on the beach could be a real challenge.

The beaches at Corfu Imperial also have separate adults-only areas.

There are plenty of water sports nearby, including regular catamarans and catamarans with a slide (€35/hour), SUPs (€20/hour), boats, banana boats and more.

Overall, the grounds are very green, beautifully maintained and really picturesque.

Rooms

We originally booked the lowest room category, but we were upgraded to a Panorama Sea View Room. And this is where you really understand what you are paying for: the view of the sea and neighbouring Corfu Imperial is absolutely beautiful. You can see the bay with yachts and boats, and in my opinion, the view is worth every penny.

Food

We genuinely enjoyed the food. Everything was tasty, good quality and there was a nice variety of dishes. There was always something to suit different tastes.

One thing to keep in mind is that breakfast and dinner are served in the restaurant of your own hotel. Guests staying at Eva Palace cannot simply choose the main restaurant of another hotel for their standard meals.

In the evening, you can visit the à la carte restaurants, with a €20 discount per person. Options include Stick & Sushi and La Contessa. We didn’t try them because we were already very happy with the food at the main restaurant.

A nice bonus for families is the Kids Go Free concept. Regardless of the parents’ board arrangement, children receive a complimentary lunch. Children from the kids’ club are taken to lunch together, which is very convenient. This complimentary children’s lunch programme is part of the Grecotel family concept.

Kids’ Clubs

This is one area where, in my opinion, there is room for improvement.

The kids’ clubs at both hotels are quite small and not particularly exciting, especially for older children. They may be more suitable for younger kids, perhaps under 5.

I would also like to see more active water entertainment. There are no children’s water slides in the pools or a separate colourful splash/water-play area. Considering how many families with children stay at these hotels, more developed children’s facilities would be a big plus.

According to the official Grecoland concept, activities are offered for different age groups, but in my opinion, the actual club facilities and water entertainment could be more modern and engaging.

Activities

The hotel offers yoga and other sports activities, although we only saw them and didn’t personally take part. There is also table tennis, with rackets available free of charge, as well as chess, checkers and board games.

Service

The service is very good. The staff are friendly, positive and always willing to help. The staff are definitely one of the things that create the special feeling of hospitality that Grecotel is known for.

On-site Shop

Another practical advantage is the on-site shop. You can buy groceries, drinks, cigarettes, heated tobacco sticks, sunscreen and after-sun products such as Panthenol, swimming goggles, toys and other everyday essentials.

It is very convenient when you don’t want to leave the resort just to pick up a few things.

Important: Tourist Tax. It is also important to keep in mind that this year the tourist tax for 5-star hotels in Greece is €15 per room per night. For a 7–10-night stay, this can add up to a significant amount, so it should be included in the holiday budget and clearly communicated to travellers in advance.
