Resting in Egypt and bringing home vitamins, medicines, cosmetics - it has already become a tradition. Everyone knows about the quality of Egyptian medicines. And also, significantly low prices, compared to ours. All pharmacies in Egypt are private, but they sell medicines at state prices. So there is some truth when you see the sign "State Pharmacy"...

Customs at Egyptian airports selectively and thoroughly check luggage and hand luggage for drugs. The inspection can take up to 2 hours.

📌 1) General rules:

- do not exceed the number of blisters in the package;

- keep receipts for the purchase of medicines;

- keep the original packaging of medicines;

- for "risky" drugs, have a doctor's prescription and a prescription in English with a wet seal and indicating the required quantity for the course of treatment specifically for you.

📌 2) Medications that are PROHIBITED in Egypt for import/export:

📌3) Recently, the following popular drugs (syrups) have been banned from sale in Egyptian pharmacies and export from the country:

Bronchotec;

Codilar;

Codiphan;

Coldstop;

Congestal;

Opticough;

Pentacold;

Pentaflu;

Pulmocare;

Rhinotus;

Tuscan;

Tusilyar;

Tussivan.

📌 4) Since the spring of 2023, a law has come into effect in Egypt that strictly controls the sale of drugs containing ephedrine and pseudoephedrine. These substances have a vasoconstrictor and bronchodilator effect, so they are most often used with paracetamol. (Previously popular 1,2,3 cannot be imported/exported!!! Similar in effect and permitted - Coldatrex).

They can only be sold with a passport and in quantities of up to 2 packages per person. You can export such drugs from Egypt, but their import into some countries, including Ukraine, is FORBIDDEN!

📌 5) It is FORBIDDEN to import into Ukraine drugs containing codeine, ephedrine and pseudoephedrine. These are the following common drugs:

Bronchitusen;

Broncholitin;

Bronchoton;

bronchocin;

Insanovin;

Caffetin;

Codelac;

Codterpine;

Ketanov;

Neo Theophedrine;

Nurofen Plus;

Pentalgin-N;

Sedal-M;

Sedalgin;

Solutan;

Teofedrin-N;

Terpincode;

Ephedrine.

If you have been prescribed this medication by a doctor, you can carry up to 20 tablets along with the packaging, instructions for use, and a prescription with a signature and seal.

📌6) If you have Alprox, Diazepam, Corvalol, Lorafen, Pseudoephedrine, Relanium, Solpadeine, Phenazepam, or other drugs containing narcotic or psychotropic substances, you must declare them in writing and provide customs officers with authorization documents.

📌 When entering Poland, it is allowed to import medicines in quantities of no more than 5 smallest packages.

📌 To Austria - no more than 3 such packages.

📌 Upon entering Germany, you will be able to freely carry a quantity of medication calculated for 3 months of intake.

Stories like "My godfather always carries 1,2,3" are not accepted by customs officers. You will have to catch up with the charter at your own expense. So save this post.
